Linda Noskova captured her maiden Grand Slam title on Saturday, defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the Wimbledon women's singles final. The 21-year-old becomes the third Czech woman in four years to win the grass-court major, following Marketa Vondrousova in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova in 2024.
The match was a roller-coaster encounter in which Noskova recovered from a second-set meltdown. After suffering an attack of nerves that saw her squander five match points, Noskova managed to regain her composure to secure the victory in three sets.
This win adds to the Czech Republic's storied tradition at the All England Club, led by Martina Navratilova, who won a record nine singles titles. Noskova and Muchova are also former doubles partners, having finished fourth together at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ranked 12th and seeded ninth, Noskova reached the final by overcoming Marta Kostyuk in the semifinals. Her tournament run included wins over Ella Seidel, Camila Osorio, Sorana Cirstea, Madison Keys, and Elise Mertens.
The action at Wimbledon continues on Sunday with the men's final, where top-ranked Jannik Sinner will attempt to defend his title against French Open champion Alexander Zverev.
