US freezes Microsoft, Adobe, Infosys green-card applications over alleged fraud

The Trump administration announced Thursday that it is suspending an immigration program for multiple tech firms, including Microsoft and Adobe. The Department of Labor has barred these companies from the Permanent Labor Certification program, effectively cutting off their ability to file for green cards for foreign workers.

Vice-president JD Vance announced the move, accusing the companies of abusing the H-1B system, which permits high-skilled workers to work while applying for permanent residency. Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling further cited multiple active federal investigations regarding the involvement of the two companies in the program.

The action potentially cuts off a common path to permanent residency for thousands of foreign tech workers. However, current H-1B visa holders are not directly affected by the suspension.
