Tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate following President Trump's announcement of what he called the most crushing economic operation against Tehran. Washington has called for the isolation of Iran's economy, with a press conference scheduled for Monday to outline the strategy.
In response, Iran has declared that any nations joining the US economic sanctions will be regarded as enemies. Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, told state television that Tehran would target the interests of countries helping the United States.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed the threat of new sanctions as a sign of desperation, asserting that the expected measures would fail to defeat Tehran. He stated that Washington must speak to Iran respectfully to find a solution based on justice and honor.
Meanwhile, prices for food and other items are soaring within Iran. Given the country's history of unrest, these price increases are being closely considered.
