Trump to lift certain Scotch whisky tariffs after UK King's visit

President Donald Trump has announced the removal of certain tariffs and restrictions on Scotch whisky following a White House visit by King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom. Industry officials have described the move as a significant boost and a major trade concession to the United Kingdom.

Trump stated on social media that the decision was made in honor of the King and Queen, who had recently departed the White House to return to the United Kingdom. He posted that the monarchs got him to do something that nobody else was able to do, without hardly even asking.

The president said he would lift restrictions on Scotland's ability to work with the Commonwealth of Kentucky on whisky and bourbon. Trump noted that people had wanted this change, specifically regarding the wooden barrels in which Scotch and bourbon spirits are aged.
