NASA has released a new image of Earth setting below the lunar horizon, dubbed an “Earthset.” The photograph was captured by the Artemis II crew during their recent lunar flyby, mirroring a famous “Earthrise” image taken by Apollo 8 astronauts in 1968.

The Artemis II mission’s image shows Earth dipping below the moon’s horizon as the crew prepares for their return to Earth’s gravity.

This new “Earthset” photo echoes the iconic 1968 image, captured over 57 years ago during the first human flyby of the Moon. The crew shared the image as a tribute to the earlier mission.
