Prince Harry, Elton John and others ordered to pay £9.5 million to Daily Mail

Prince Harry and six other high-profile claimants, including Sir Elton John, Liz Hurley, and Doreen Lawrence, have been ordered by London's High Court to make an interim payment of £9.54 million toward the legal costs of the Daily Mail's publisher.

The ruling follows a failed lawsuit alleging unlawful information gathering and privacy invasion. Associated Newspapers Ltd strongly denied the claims made by the Duke of Sussex and the other six claimants.

The judge ordered the interim payment to be made within seven days, by 4pm on 28 August. The publisher stated it accumulated more than £34 million during the case, and the seven claimants could potentially have to pay up to £25 million more. A judge noted they may eventually have to pay more than twice the initial sum, with the remainder of costs to be reimbursed by a later date.
