Masked Israeli settlers launched coordinated attacks against Palestinians across the occupied West Bank on Friday to disrupt the annual olive harvest. Clad in black and wielding clubs, guns, and other weapons, dozens of militant settlers burned olive trees and cars while hurling rocks at Palestinians.
In the town of Abu Falah near Ramallah, about 80 settlers targeted those attempting to harvest their olives. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that at least six people were injured during the assault in that town.
Among the injured was Heidi Levine, a veteran American photojournalist working for The Washington Post, who was severely beaten. These attacks are part of a rising trend of violence during the harvest season; at least four Palestinians have been killed and more than 100 injured since the season began earlier this month. The Israeli army stated that the incident will be examined.
