Authorities in Reggio Emilia, Italy, have banned two upcoming concerts involving American rappers Kanye West and Travis Scott. The events, which were scheduled to take place in July, were expected to draw more than 100,000 fans.

The concert by West, who changed his name to Ye in 2021, was set for July 18 at the Pulse of Gaia festival at the RCF Arena. The city's prefect, Salvatore Angieri, stopped the performance to ensure public order and safety.

The decision followed concerns and objections from the local Jewish community and Jewish leaders regarding Ye's previous antisemitic remarks. Authorities also cited fears of counter-protests and stated that the cancellation of other West concerts contributed to the decision.
