Poland is investigating an unidentified object, believed to be a missile, that entered Polish airspace and crashed on its territory during a deadly wave of Russian missile and drone strikes across Ukraine.
The object crashed in a field near the eastern city of Lublin, approximately 80 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Polish authorities stated the object was aimed at western Ukrainian territory but violated Polish airspace and territory after missing its target.
Police discovered scattered debris and a 10-metre wide crater resulting from the explosion. According to authorities, the object had been tracked by army radars in domestic airspace before disappearing from radar.
