Over 41,000 US Homeland Security employees' data leaked in security breach

cybersecurity

A group calling themselves Distributed Denial of Secrets has released personally identifiable information of more than 40,000 U.S. Department of Homeland Security employees. The leaked data includes names, phone numbers, and email addresses of personnel across several security agencies, specifically unmasking ICE agents, DHS operatives, and contractors.

The released database contains official titles, agencies, and office locations across various cities and states. Some of the exposed information belongs to officials working in sensitive fields, such as human intelligence and surveillance. These leaks follow recent data breaches involving the Defense Department and the FBI.

Distributed Denial of Secrets claimed the leak was fair play due to the government's lack of transparency. Additionally, a group called the Department of Peace released information on more than 41,000 DHS staff. The Department of Homeland Security is currently working to secure its systems after the personnel files were hacked and published online.
