Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing for a state welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People on Tuesday morning before the two leaders began their talks.
Min Aung Hlaing is in China for a five-day state visit, his first trip to the country since the former Myanmar junta chief formalized his grip on power. Myanmar has been diplomatically isolated since a 2021 military coup ousted the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.
During the visit, President Xi Jinping pledged support for neighboring Myanmar. The two countries signed 18 cooperation deals, including agreements on free trade and assistance in the event of natural disasters.
