Mauricio Pochettino unveiled the 26-man US men’s national team roster for the 2026 World Cup during a nationally televised event in Manhattan on Tuesday. The announcement followed months of evaluation by Pochettino to finalize the squad that will attempt to capture the United States' first title in the world’s biggest soccer tournament.
The squad is evenly split between 13 World Cup debutants and 13 players who featured at Qatar 2022. Included in the 26-man list are Folarin Balogun and the Robinsons, while Matt Freese of New York City FC is the likely starting goalkeeper.
Pochettino has implied that the U.S. can win the World Cup on home soil. After the glitzy reveal in New York, the team will begin its journey in the suburbs of Atlanta. The reveal event was joined by hundreds of fans, some of whom held signs urging the team to do better than Canada.
