A Palestinian man drove into a military checkpoint in the West Bank on Wednesday, seriously injuring a reserve soldier. The soldier was searching vehicles at a checkpoint near an Israeli settlement when the attacker used a car to run him down.
The injured soldier was identified as Neria Leiter, who sustained life-threatening injuries. Yechiel Leiter, Israel's ambassador to the United States, identified the soldier as his son.
The Palestinian attacker was shot dead following the attack. The West Bank has experienced a surge in deadly violence since the war in Gaza began.
