200 luxury cruise passengers stranded in Cambodia due to fuel surge

The Villa Vie Odyssey, a luxury residential cruise ship touring the world, has halted its operations in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The U.S.-based cruise company suspended the voyage on Tuesday, leaving more than 200 passengers to disembark and abandon their homes.

The company cited extraordinary and surging fuel costs as the reason for the sudden suspension. According to the operator, fuel expenses have risen by over 300% since the start of the US-Israel war on Iran.

Following the ship's unexpected final stop, the company is currently working with passengers to secure temporary living arrangements.
