Royal Navy serviceman charged with spying under National Security Act

A serving member of the British Royal Navy has been charged with spying for an undisclosed foreign power. Teddy Young, 24, from Bedfordshire, was arrested by counter-terror police and charged under the National Security Act.

The charges involve allegations that Young obtained protected information and prepared to disclose it to benefit an unnamed foreign power. Police have characterized these as very serious offenses.

Young is scheduled to appear on Thursday at Westminster magistrates’ court in London to face the charges.
