Britain's Bar Standards Board has imposed an immediate interim suspension on Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Khan has been accused of sexual misconduct and is currently the subject of multiple investigations into these allegations at the international court.

This action by the independent regulator for court lawyers follows a previous suspension issued by the court itself on June 8 over sexual misconduct accusations. The temporary suspension by the British bar association remains in place pending disciplinary proceedings.

Under the board's Enforcement Regulations, the interim suspension must now be considered by an Interim Suspension Panel at a hearing within the next four weeks. Khan, 56, denies the allegations made against him.
