Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, regained his parliamentary seat in Clacton-on-Sea on Friday. Farage won the special election he triggered after quitting his seat a month ago, a strategy intended to bolster his position against allegations of financial impropriety.
Farage secured the victory with 22,239 votes, representing 63% of the total. His main challenger, a comic candidate named Count Binface who dressed as a trash can, exceeded expectations by coming in second with 9,455 votes, capturing more than a quarter of the vote.
The by-election in the southern English seaside resort was described as widely mocked. Farage skipped the count, citing security concerns, as he beat a field of fringe candidates led by the costumed Binface.
