Trump threatens to destroy Iranian gas fields over Qatar attacks
President Trump stated Israel was responsible for Wednesday’s attack on Iran’s South Pars gas field. He pledged Israel will not attack the site again, but warned the US would “massively blow up” the entirety of the field if Iran continues to attack gas facilities in Qatar. This follows Iranian strikes on Gulf states’ energy sites, responding to the initial Israeli attack. Qatar’s Ras Laffan facility was hit twice, once on Wednesday and again Thursday morning. Trump’s warning came after threats to “entirely blow up” South Pars if Tehran retaliates against Qatar. A vessel in the Persian Gulf was also hit by an unknown projectile, with all crew reported safe. Fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified in southern Lebanon.
