Prosecutors Visit Fed HQ, Denied Access in Probe

Prosecutors unexpectedly visited the Federal Reserve’s headquarters construction site on Tuesday. The visit from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office occurred as the Trump administration continues to pressure the central bank.

Lawyers from the U.S. attorney’s office were turned away from the renovation project, which is undergoing extensive work at considerable expense. President Trump has expressed fury over the costs.

The renovations are currently the subject of a months-long criminal investigation by the Justice Department. This inquiry may potentially delay the confirmation of the next Federal Reserve chair.

Two of Pirro’s deputies appeared at the construction site without warning and were subsequently denied access.
