Mirra Andreeva, a Russian teenager, reached her first Grand Slam final on Thursday with a dominant victory over Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk at the French Open. Andreeva secured the win with a ruthless 6-1, 6-3 score in a politically charged semi-final.
The 19-year-old delivered a tactical masterclass against an erratic Kostyuk. In doing so, she ended the Ukrainian's 17-match unbeaten run on clay.
Andreeva drew on her previous experience, referencing a defeat against Kostyuk at the Madrid Open earlier this year to secure her place in the final.
