Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a former gang leader, has been charged with planning the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed 25-year-old hip-hop superstar Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas.
During the proceedings, jurors heard that Davis told detectives in 2008 that his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, fired the shots that killed Shakur. Davis stated in the interview that he was also in the car with Anderson, who had been dead for a decade at the time the statement was made.
Taking the stand could be the only way for Davis to explain his about-face to the jurors.
