Saudi Arabia reopens Riyadh airport as Houthi attacks and threats persist

armed conflict

Saudi Arabia has reopened King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh for international flights following a two-week closure. The facility, which serves the capital city, had been knocked out of service by a series of attacks carried out by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels.

The disruptions were caused by several deadly attacks launched by the Houthi militia this month. On October 10, an attack on the airport killed 12 people and wounded more than 300 others.

The airport announced it will designate two terminals for flights as operations resume. However, the Houthis have renewed their warnings against using the facility and have threatened to strike the airport again.
