Harvey Weinstein's third trial in New York over allegations that he raped aspiring actress Jessica Mann ended in a mistrial on Friday. A jury consisting of seven men and five women, which began deliberating on Wednesday, informed Judge Curtis Farber that they could not reach a unanimous decision.
This is the second time in a year that a jury has failed to reach a verdict on the rape charge brought by Mann. While the disgraced former Hollywood mogul has been convicted of other sex crimes on the US east and west coasts and is already in jail, the New York charge remains in limbo after three trials.
During the trial process, Weinstein's lawyers reported that he felt chest pains while jurors were deliberating. He returned to court a day after reporting the pains. A hearing has been set for June 24 to determine whether prosecutors will choose to pursue a fourth trial.
