Belgium forward Leandro Trossard has joined Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas from Arsenal on a three-year contract with an option for a further year. Both clubs confirmed the permanent transfer on Wednesday. Besiktas reported the deal to be worth 18 million euros, payable in six equal instalments over three years, while British media reported the fee at approximately £17 million.
The 31-year-old departs north London after three and a half seasons, having joined from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. During his tenure, Trossard made 174 appearances in all competitions and scored 36 goals. Last season, he recorded six goals and six assists in 31 league appearances, helping Mikel Arteta's side end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title. His contributions included a late winner against West Ham in May, and he started in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
On the international stage, Trossard has earned 57 caps for Belgium with 14 goals, representing his country at four major tournaments and starting all six matches during Belgium's run to the World Cup quarterfinals. He joins a Besiktas side that placed fourth in the league last season and is preparing to host Midtjylland in the first leg of the Europa League second qualifying round next week. The 16-time Turkish champions also recently signed Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nübel.
