Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new head coach of Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr on a two-year deal. In a statement released Friday, the club welcomed the 60-year-old Australian, calling the appointment a new chapter and wishing him and his staff success. Postecoglou inherits a high-profile squad led by superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who helped the club secure the league title on the final day of the season in May.
Postecoglou arrives with a track record of winning trophies, having secured league titles with Brisbane Roar, Yokohama F Marinos, and Celtic. He also led Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League glory in 2025.
The move follows two bruising stints in the Premier League as the manager seeks to revive his career. While he won the Europa League with Tottenham, he was sacked two weeks later after the club finished 17th in the standings. His most recent post at Nottingham Forest during the 2025-26 season was the shortest managerial reign in Premier League history, ending 39 days after his appointment. Postecoglou went winless in his first eight games at Forest, including six defeats.
Before joining Al-Nassr, the Australian had been linked with the Scotland national team job and Kazakhstan. However, media reports suggested his wage demands were too high for the central Asian side.
