The Onion signs deal to take over Alex Jones' Infowars as a satirical site

The satirical website The Onion has a new plan to take over conspiracy theorist Alex Jones's Infowars platforms. Global Tetrahedron, the Chicago-based parent company of The Onion, intends to lease the name and website address to turn the misinformation platform into a parody of itself.

Under a deal provisionally approved by a Texas court, Global Tetrahedron would pay $81,000 a month for six months, with an option to renew for another six months. The Onion has reportedly been attempting to acquire Infowars.com since the site first came up for sale two years ago.

The agreement must be approved by a Texas judge to move forward. Alex Jones has spoken out against the proposal, claiming that the plan to transform the outlet into a satirical site amounts to stealing his identity.
