Morocco defeated Haiti 4-2 in Atlanta to advance to the World Cup round of 32. While Morocco finished level on seven points with Brazil, they ended as Group C runners-up due to goal difference. Brazil topped the group after beating Scotland 3-0, while Haiti became the first side eliminated from the tournament, finishing bottom without a point in their first World Cup appearance since 1974.
The action-packed game saw Morocco come from behind twice. Haiti took an early lead when Lenny Joseph's backheeled effort resulted in an own goal by Morocco keeper Yassine Bounou. Achraf Hakimi equalized before Wilson Isidor put Haiti back in front with a stunning strike. Ismael Saibari leveled the score again on the stroke of halftime.
Haiti remained on the verge of earning their first World Cup point until substitute Soufiane Rahimi scored 12 minutes from time following a corner, and Yassine Gessime sealed the victory late in the match. Morocco will now play the winners of Group F, which could be Japan, the Netherlands, or Sweden, in Houston on Monday.
