France, UK to Host Hormuz Talks, Discuss Naval Mission Friday

international relations defense & military

France and the UK are collaborating on efforts to restore free transit through the Strait of Hormuz. President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-chair a video conference in Paris this Friday with countries willing to contribute to a defensive multilateral mission.

The talks, aimed at establishing a “peaceful, multinational mission,” will focus on restoring freedom of navigation when security conditions permit. Discussions will include a possible strictly defensive naval mission to achieve this goal.

Downing Street has confirmed the summit will proceed as planned. The initiative seeks to ensure free passage through the vital waterway, with a focus on a collaborative and security-conscious approach.
