Andrew Tate indicted in Romania for sex trafficking minors, money laundering

crime & law legal proceedings

Romanian prosecutors have officially indicted social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan. Andrew Tate faces charges of trafficking minors, money laundering, sex with a minor, and witness tampering, while Tristan Tate has been indicted for complicity.

The brothers were arrested in Miami in late July after Britain requested their extradition. They are currently being held in a Miami jail as they contest extradition to Britain, where they are wanted on rape charges.

These developments have led to calls for the independence of the Romanian justice system. Investigative journalist Andrei Popoviciu wrote that how the case is handled will reveal what kind of country Romania really is. He stated that judges, prosecutors, and lawmakers must take the allegations seriously and remain independent from external or political influence for the sake of the alleged victims.
