The U.S. military and the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces conducted precision airstrikes in Iraq on Tuesday, July 28. These coordinated strikes targeted Iran-aligned militant groups and proxies that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps directed to attack U.S. forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.
The operations followed more than two dozen drone attacks launched from Iraq against U.S. forces and oil facilities in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Region over two consecutive days. While Saudi air defense systems intercepted the attacks on its petroleum facilities, the U.S. military stated that the attacks against American forces were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guards reported striking and halting three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz early Wednesday. This escalation comes as Saudi Arabia faces a maritime blockade that is limiting its crude oil shipments.
