Ivory Coast's Elye Wahi allowed into Canada for World Cup after visa denial

Ivory Coast striker Elye Wahi has received authorization to enter Canada for his nation's World Cup match against Germany this Saturday in Toronto. The 23-year-old forward, who is contracted to Eintracht Frankfurt, will now be able to join his teammates for the upcoming clash.

The Ivorian football federation initially announced that Wahi would not be able to travel with the squad because the necessary administrative authorizations for his entry into Canadian territory could not be obtained at that stage.

The travel difficulties come as Wahi is being investigated in France for alleged betting-related offences and suspected spot-fixing. He was reportedly arrested last month in connection with an investigation into alleged organised fraud in Ligue 1.

Despite the earlier denial of entry, the federation confirmed hours later that the forward had received the required travel authorization to visit Canada.
