Indonesian authorities have intensified the search for people missing after the Virgo Transport 8 ferry capsized in the Java Sea on Sunday. At least six people have died, and at least 129 remain missing.

More than 600 rescuers are battling stormy seas to locate survivors. On Monday, rescue teams deployed specialized underwater teams and navy-operated underwater drones as the search intensified. Crews have managed to rescue 108 people from the vessel.

The national search and rescue agency, Basarnas, attributed the disaster to bad weather. The agency stated that they cannot fight nature, noting that the swells and waves in the area were extremely high.
