Russian player Daniil Medvedev was disqualified from his China Open semifinal match against Novak Djokovic on Monday, October 5, in Beijing. The disqualification occurred late in the second set after Medvedev hit a ball into the stands, striking a spectator in the front row.

The rebounding ball struck the fan in the head, hitting the spectator in the face and eye. Following the incident, Medvedev was defaulted from the tournament.

As a result, Novak Djokovic advances to the final, where he will face Alex de Minaur on Tuesday. Medvedev had previously reached the semifinals by defeating Francisco Cerundolo.
