Israeli strikes kill 9, including Lebanese soldiers, after ceasefire deal

armed conflict defense & military

Several soldiers were killed in an Israeli strike on a vehicle in south Lebanon on Saturday. The Israeli military confirmed hitting the vehicle and stated that the incident is being reviewed. Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun called the strike a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international law.

The strike comes days after Israel and Lebanon announced a conditional truce following talks in the United States. Despite this, Hezbollah has rejected the latest ceasefire deal between Israel and the Lebanese government, demanding a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon.

The war began on March 2 when Hezbollah fired rockets at northern Israel, two days after Israel and the U.S. began attacks on Iran. Since the conflict began, Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports that Israeli attacks have killed at least 3,526 people.

Additionally, the Israeli army has issued new forced displacement orders for several towns and villages in southern Lebanon.
