While the ban represents a small fraction of the $880 billion in annual two-way trade between the two neighbors, it marks a further ratcheting up of President Donald Trump's second-term trade war. This latest escalation follows the collapse of negotiations in late August. Currently, there is no word on when talks between the two countries may resume.
