Strikes have resumed in southern Lebanon as the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has failed to fully halt hostilities. Lebanon's health ministry reported that Israeli strikes killed 14 people and wounded 37 on Sunday, making it the deadliest day since the truce came into force over a week ago. The casualties included two women and two children. Previously, strikes on Saturday in at least four locations reportedly killed six people. Israel stated that one of its soldiers was also killed.
The Israeli government and Hezbollah have traded blame over breaches to the truce, which is set to run for several more weeks. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to attack Hezbollah following alleged ceasefire breaches. Hezbollah has rejected these allegations and stated it will not cease its attacks on Israeli troops as long as Israel continues its ceasefire violations.
The Israeli military has issued new evacuation orders for residents to leave seven towns located north of the Litani River and beyond the buffer zone occupied by Israeli troops. This escalation occurs as more than 2,500 people have been killed in Israeli strikes since the war between Hezbollah and Israel began on March 2.
