Gates Foundation to Cut 20% of Staff and Review Epstein Ties

The Gates Foundation has opened an external review into its past interactions and engagement with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The action follows the release of the Epstein files, in which Bill Gates and some former advisers figure prominently.

The philanthropic group is currently awaiting findings from the review amid public scrutiny of co-founder Bill Gates’ ties to the disgraced financier. The foundation stated that an update on the review is expected this summer.

The fallout from these revelations has extended to other high-profile associates. Berkshire Hathaway Chair Warren Buffett stated that he has not spoken to Bill Gates since details of Epstein's communications with him were revealed.

In separate organizational news, the CEO of the philanthropic giant announced in a memo that the foundation plans to cut up to 500 jobs by 2030.
