Members of the British band Massive Attack were detained, isolated, and separately questioned by Singapore police following a concert last Wednesday. The performers had unfurled a Palestinian flag and shouted "free Palestine" during the event.
The music group stated they are proud of the impromptu expression of support for Palestine. However, the band said they are surprised and disappointed by the treatment they received.
The group was punished under a racial harmony policy that has long been criticized as stifling free speech in the city-state. As a result, Singapore has banned the two core members of Massive Attack from reentering the country.
