Nathan Cofnas, a postdoctoral scholar and U.S. academic, has been suspended by Ghent University in Belgium. Cofnas stated on Thursday that he is currently under investigation for discrimination.

The suspension follows Cofnas raising plagiarism concerns regarding the late Jason Arday. Arday, who became the youngest-ever black professor at Cambridge upon his appointment in 2023, was found dead Friday at the age of 41.

Cofnas, an outspoken critic of DEI, was previously sacked from Cambridge in 2024 over his views on race.
