World champion South Africa secured a 42-28 victory over Scotland in a thrilling Nations Championship contest on Saturday in Pretoria. Playing at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, a much-changed South African side scored six tries to hold off an impressively stubborn Scottish onslaught.
Despite the defeat, Scotland remained competitive and managed to run in four tries. However, the visitors were left to rue several missed opportunities during the pulsating match.
Scotland coach Gregor Townsend said his side were frustrated at letting South Africa off the hook. The result denied the visitors a first away win over the Springboks.
