Andy Burnham, nicknamed the King of the North, is set to become Britain's 59th prime minister and the seventh in a decade. He will replace Sir Keir Starmer following Starmer's sudden downfall and Burnham's victory in the Labour leadership race.
Burnham will officially become the leader of the governing Labour Party this Friday during a special conference, which serves as the final step before he officially becomes prime minister on Monday.

He is reportedly expected to pledge to be unashamedly Labour and vow that his government will have the courage to fix the big things that politics has neglected. He has pledged to build a politics based on unity and hope and an economy that spreads growth evenly across the country, while also aiming to thwart the rise of the populist Reform UK.
