A heavy Russian bombardment targeted Ukraine's capital and the surrounding region overnight Thursday, killing at least six people and wounding dozens. City military authorities reported that five people were killed and 23 were wounded during the attack.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that ballistic missile strikes hit residential areas, apartments, warehouses, and non-residential buildings. The bombardment also damaged an educational institution and a medical facility, including a children's hospital, leaving parts of Kyiv without power.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Europe have so far failed to bring a lasting ceasefire to the war.
