A gunman opened fire near a high school in western Turkey's Manisa’s Turgutlu district on Tuesday, wounding 11 high school students. The shooter, a pupil, allegedly used a hunting rifle to shoot indiscriminately at his schoolmates in front of the school.
Two of the wounded are in critical condition, and the injured have been rushed to local hospitals for treatment. Police and medical teams responded to the scene, and authorities arrested the assailant after he was caught on security camera.
The attack marks the third school shooting this year in Turkey, coming months after two back-to-back shootings that shocked the nation. Security around the school has been tightened as educators have been warning about rising violence.
