Health officials have reported a hantavirus outbreak on the Hondius cruise ship, involving several British nationals. The UK Health Security Agency has confirmed two cases, with those patients currently in hospitals in the Netherlands and South Africa. A third British passenger is suspected of having the infection and remains on the south Atlantic island of Tristan da Cunha.

The vessel is currently heading to Tenerife. Once the affected British passengers and staff are repatriated, they will be taken to a hospital in northwest England for an initial isolation period.

Following their arrival, the British passengers will be required to self-isolate for 45 days.
