The Federal Aviation Administration has certified the Boeing 737 Max 7, the smallest model of Boeing's Max jetliners, for commercial service. This approval allows the smallest version of the company's best-selling plane to begin flying passengers.
The certification follows years of delays. This drawn-out process was upended by two fatal crashes and quality lapses at the US planemaker.
Airlines can begin flying passengers soon after planes are certified, although it can take months to work the aircraft into their schedules.
