Iran-linked hackers claimed to have breached the personal email inbox of FBI Director Kash Patel, releasing photographs and documents online.

The hacking group, identified as Handala Hack Team and allegedly working for the Iranian government, asserted responsibility for the breach on Friday. They stated Patel would be added to a list of “successfully hacked victims.”

A Justice Department official confirmed the breach and indicated the published material appeared authentic. The compromised account was a personal Gmail inbox belonging to Director Patel.

The group published content from the account, including photographs of the director and other documents, making them publicly available.
