President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has renewed his push for Ukraine to join NATO, insisting that his country has already proved itself a reliable partner and that membership in the alliance would be entirely natural. Speaking at an annual summit in Turkey, the Ukrainian president argued that it would be wrong to exclude a country that has built up strong defenses in its long struggle against the Russian invasion.
This renewed call comes after Russia launched another deadly attack on Kyiv at the start of the week. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has developed almost all the weapons it needs, though it still requires European help in developing an alternative to the US Patriots to protect against ballistic missile attacks.
NATO noted that Ukraine is doing so much better over the last couple of months. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy is reported to be in good spirits and has grounds for confidence ahead of talks with Donald Trump and other NATO leaders.
