Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to a contract extension to remain the head coach of the U.S. men’s national team through the 2030 World Cup. U.S. Soccer announced the deal on Monday, confirming that the manager will continue to lead the program for another four years.
Pochettino, who joined the national team in 2024, recently led the United States to the last 16 at the 2026 World Cup. Although the tournament was described as a promising showing, the run ended in controversy and a disappointing exit. Despite the result, Pochettino insisted that there is tremendous potential to bring America to the sport's upper echelons.
The agreement comes after several months of active discussions between Pochettino and the federation, which were underway long before this summer's World Cup. While the financial details of the extension were not released, Pochettino is expected to receive a raise over his previous salary of $6 million per year, which was already the largest outlay for a U.S. head coach.
