World number one and top-ranked Jannik Sinner withdrew from the upcoming US Open on Friday. The player will not be competing at Flushing Meadows this year.

The withdrawal is due to a right knee injury. The 24-year-old has not played since sustaining the injury earlier in August and has been kept out of action since Wimbledon.

Sinner is a five-time major champion and won the US Open in 2024.
