The Oscars are leaving their longtime home at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Starting in 2029, the ceremony will move to the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The Academy has reached a 10-year agreement with AEG, which operates the L.A. Live complex where the Peacock Theater is located. This move coincides with the Oscars’ broadcast shift to YouTube.

The Dolby Theatre has hosted the awards since 2002, marking the longest continuous run at a single venue in the ceremony’s history. The Peacock Theater, which has previously hosted the Emmy Awards and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies, will be upgraded with bespoke design elements to accommodate the Oscars.

The agreement will begin with the 101st Academy Awards and extend through 2039. The Dolby will continue to host the show through the 100th Academy Awards in 2028.
